Indigestion and Acid Reflux frequent attacks.
Between 2007 and 2011, Indigestion and Acid Reflux attacks were increasing that I would see the GP at least once a month for medication. The nausea made me lose appetite for food. At one stage I lost 10 kilograms, because I was losing appetite due to prolonged nausea.
Detox as first step to deal with Indigestion and Acid Reflux
After hearing about Detox from the local daily newspaper, I decided maybe I should have a go with Detox. It seemed to me at that time, it was the correct thing to do, i.e. flush out whatever toxin or stored waste from my body system.
At the local Pharmacy, there are several Detox product to choose from, either a Detox Tea or a Detox drink. I chose the 7 days Detox product from Lennox . Mix one sachet powder with water and drink every night before bed.
At the completion of 7 days Detox program, I was ready to proceed to the next stage, i.e. experiment with herbal supplement. Although I did not see any immediate result from the Detox but mentally, it felt great to know my body will benefits from the detoxing.
Herbal supplement next to reduce Indigestion and Acid Reflux
My colleague introduced me to a Ayurvedic composite herb called Triphala. According to her, this helped with cleansing stomach and colon system. I bought Himalaya brand Triphala (see featured image above) from the local Pharmacy, completed the course in 1 month. Taken in the morning before breakfast and another before bed, two capsules per day.
During the 1st month on Triphala, I avoided any intake of bad food that could trigger Indigestion, Lactose Intolerance and Acid Reflux. I wanted to give room for my stomach to rebuild its immunity and cultivate good gut bacteria.
Natural supplement to control Indigestion and Acid Reflux
After completing Triphala, I then moved on to eating sensible natural supplement on a daily basis. Below was my daily routine;
(a) Daily one tablespoon of pure Aloe Vera Juice first thing in the morning.
(b) Daily one cup of this beverage where I mix three tablespoons of Instant Oat into a Hot Cocoa drink. For the Cocoa drink, I alternate between Nesquik Hot Chocolate and Milo, both produced by Nestle.
Going into 2nd month with natural supplements, I saw the improvement in my digestion, was able to tolerate lactose better and suffer fewer Acid Reflux attacks.
Fast forward to 2016, I am cured from Lactose Intolerance. My stomach system got better at digestion. Although I did get Acid Reflux attacks 2 to 3 times in a year from 2012-2015. That was because I got careless due to my binge eating habit on fatty food, dairy product and deep fried food.
Starting 2016, I no longer take Aloe Vera Juice as I have stopped replenishing supply. But I still continue with a daily cup of the Instant Oat with Hot Cocoa every morning. Besides, the Oat nutrient value was beneficial in keeping my Total Cholesterol score between 4 and 5 points consistently since 2012.
I regularly drink warm Honey with squeezed Lemon juice as it aids in better digestion. Being the foodie I am, occassionally I will indulge in my favourite Penang Char Koay Teow (PCKT) and other Malaysian Street Foods. The idea is not to binge eat and go on moderate helpings.
